The Transgo upgraded separator plate is made from tempered steel and plated for longer life and rust resistance. The stock valve body separator plate wears over time and can change the shift feel once the checkballs start wearing grooves in the plate.  

Additionally, you can add new separator plate gaskets to this purchase.
