Common complaints with a 4T60-E 1993-up are falling out of lock-up hot, code 740, adverse lock-up in cold weather, torque converter shudder, and burn-up of the TCC lining. These complaints can be caused by a worn TCC regulator sleeve and/or a worn valve body bore in the isolator valve area. The TCC regulator sleeve design was changed in 1993. This new design has an aluminum sleeve with a steel valve that continuously oscillates within the sleeve. This motion eventually wears the inner diameter of the sleeve and results in excessive leakage. This leakage allows the TCC apply oil to exhaust to the sump. Leakage is also caused by the hardened steel isolator valve wearing the aluminum valve body bore. This allows converter oil charge reduction and PWM boost oil loss. Install the Sonnax isolator valve and TCC regulator sleeve and valve kit 84754-01K. The TCC regulator sleeve is made from Deltalloy 4032 cold-rolled aluminum, specifically designed to prevent excessive wear. The closely toleranced TCC regulator valve is made from anodized aluminum to prevent wear and restore the hydraulic integrity of the assembly. The Sonnax isolator valve has been made considerably longer than the OEM valve in order to contact the entire length of the valve bore. A larger spool diameter and feed orifice have been added to the isolator valve to allow PWM oil to increase the TCC oil boost. TCC regulator sleeve is made from highly wear-resistant aluminum. Closely-toleranced TCC regulator valve is made from hard-anodized aluminum to prevent wear and restore the hydraulic integrity of the assembly. Sonnax isolator valve has been made considerably longer than the OEM valve in order to contact the entire length of the valve bore. Annular grooves have been added to better center the valve in the bore and prevent sticking. A modified spring is included to work with the longer isolator valve. Note: The 1991 & 1992 TCC regulator valves run directly in the valve body bore. In 1993 the 4T60-E TCC regulator valve was redesigned to run in an OEM sleeve. This kit 84754-08K may only be used in the 1991& 1992 models without the OEM sleeve. For 1993-99 models, use Sonnax kit 84754-01K.
