Vehicles with a CD4E transmission may have complaints of harsh engagement, soft or harsh shifting particularly from 1st to 2nd gear. These complaints can be due to worn or out-of-round accumulator bores and/or pistons sticking in the bore. Sonnax now offers an accumulator piston kit 73840-24 for the 2-4 piston, 73840-LR for low/reverse, and 73840-FWD for forward. This anodized aluminum replacement piston has two O-rings that will prevent blow-by leakage. The piston has been dimensionally modified to stop in different axial locations to prevent it from hanging-up or sticking on the previously worn bore ridges. Modified replacement springs are included for each application to fit in the smaller piston pocket.
